Root Canal Retreatment Solon
Extending the Lifespan of Your Smile

There are several factors that can determine how long your root canal serves you for, such as your dental hygiene habits, protection from teeth grinding, and more. When cared for properly, teeth that have received root canals can last for 30 or more years! However, there are a number of situations in which retreatment may be necessary. If you have a treated tooth that’s causing you trouble, call our office to schedule an examination with our endodontic specialist, Dr. Segal.

The Root Canal Retreatment Process
After Dr. Segal recommends root canal retreatment to you and you decide to move forward with your treatment plan, the first step will be to access the interior of the treated tooth. First, we will need to remove the existing crown and filling to access the tooth. After a thorough cleaning and examination of the interior of the tooth using her endodontic microscope, Dr. Segal will address any damage and disinfect the interior. Then, we will fill the tooth again, and you’ll return to your general dentist for a new dental crown.
The Benefits of Root Canal Retreatment
While receiving a second root canal isn’t many people’s idea of having a good day, our team goes out of our way to make your experience as comfortable and seamless as possible. Plus, in some cases, receiving retreatment can mean you won’t need to undergo further complex surgery or dental procedures such as tooth extractions or dental implant placement and restoration.
