Endodontist Solon

Get to Know Julia Segal, DMD

For Dr. Segal, it’s difficult to choose her favorite part of her job. She likes having the ability to get a patient out of pain and save their tooth from needing to be extracted, all while connecting with people and sharing her love for endodontics. And it always feels great to alleviate someone’s anxiety about dental treatment. Being able to work with dentists in the community to better serve patients is also fulfilling. All of this is why she can’t imagine doing anything else!

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Segal decided to become a dentist when she realized it was a career that combines her love of science/medicine, hand skills, and (most importantly) the desire to help people when they feel the most vulnerable.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Segal attended Yeshiva University before going on to earn her DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She then completed a General Practice Residency at St. Luke's University Health Network in Allentown, PA, after she graduated from dental school and worked as a general dentist in Philadelphia for two years.

Although she greatly enjoys all aspects of dentistry, Dr. Segal was drawn to endodontics and wanted to advance her education in the specialty. She attended the Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine and obtained her certificate in endodontics.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

When she isn’t spending quality time with her family, Dr. Segal is passionate about film, particularly screenwriting. She enjoys the art of storytelling and believes that story is what connects people. This applies to endodontics/root canal treatment because every person and every tooth has a story that is not only important for diagnosis, but can also help predict treatment outcomes and aid the patient’s experience.
